We are Advocates for Singles

Be Complete in Christ

Home alone and hungry? Single adults will go as far as eating meals in their cars after picking up take-out, scouring their pantry to hope to find something edible or reach for a frozen meal that now comes in “single serving” just to avoid the table for one scenario. As a Christ follower, this should not be the case! With Christ we are never alone and never forgotten. Table for One Ministries exist to build community for single adults through discipleship.
Our goal is to see single adults come to Christ, be complete in Him, and build communities that accept single adults. While marriage may be in the plan for some singles, the fact is that while you are single your mission should not be marriage. Your mission is to grow your relationship with God and go on mission for Him! Find out more about Table for One Ministries we seek to be and advocate for singles of God’s Word in context of the single life and connect singles to communities of believers that also seek to do the same.
TFO - Table for One Ministries- Ministry for Singles and Leaders to Singles - Strategy

Our strategy to accomplish our mission of building community for single adults through discipleship is bold. The strategies are written media, social media and speaking engagements. We believe that through these 3 strategies we can impact an entire generation of churches and single adults for Christ.

TFO - Table for One Ministries- Ministry for Singles and Leaders to Singles - Values

Our values come from prayer and Scripture. Discipleship, relationships, encouragement, community are values represented in every endeavor we embark on and shape who we are as a ministry.

  • I have never met anyone with more passion for singles than PJ. He has an amazing ability to minister to and understand this growing segment of the population. PJ has what it takes to minister to singles. You can trust his words and heed his advice when seeking to reach singles in your church.

  • I want to thank you for your viewpoint of divorced adults. All too many feel ostracized from churches. They may have divorced for the "wrong" reason, but if they are a believer, they are still a child of God.

  • I've had the opportunity to invest in PJ's ministry from both an academic and practical level, and I have seen his passion for ministry with single adults grow and flourish as he has immersed himself in learning how to be a more effective minister and then applied that knowledge in the local church setting.

  • PJ Dunn, more than any other person I know, desires to reach, disciple, and equip single adults for the Kingdom of God. He has demonstrated a strong work ethic and infectious enthusiasm in and for his ministry.  At a time when many churches struggle  to find programs and strategies to effectively minister to this growing demographic of the American population, I'm delighted to see a ministry endeavoring to address the unique needs of singles.

Statement on Marriage

Table for One Ministries’ mission is to build community for single adults through discipleship. Our ministry focus is on ministering to singles and helping them to fully realize their completeness in Christ. Yet we also affirm the importance of marriage and believe that being complete in Christ is not just for singles, but for marriages as well. Additionally, while we desire to help churches reach and minister to the ever growing single population, we want to acknowledge the importance of marriage in God’s redemptive plan for this world.

We affirm that biblical marriage is established by God as a life-long covenant between one man and one woman. Marriage is intended to be the perfect example of Christ’s relationship with his church and living example of the gospel of forgiveness, grace and mercy. The marriage relationship provides the only acceptable channel for physical intimacy between a man and woman. Additionally, marriage is God’s plan for the procreation of mankind and is vital to fulfilling His will for both mankind and his kingdom.

We believe in the institution of marriage and yet we recognize that there are many Christians who are single for numerous reasons. Our goal is to help singles to continue to grow and to desire a deep and intimate relationship with Christ now, regardless of their marital or relational status.

On September 11, 2001 my life profoundly changed to serve the Lord. When the tragic events of that day happened, I was a freshman engineering student at the University of Tennessee. That was the first time I clearly saw death and fully comprehended that people around me who did not know the Lord would die and spend eternity apart from God. I prayed to God for direction for my life and I felt a calling to full-time Christian service. That calling would significantly impact the course of my life and alter my educational goals and career direction. Growing up in the church as a preacher’s son was challenging, but helped to fortify my calling to ministry. I came to know the Lord at age nine and was afterwards baptized by my father. My family witnessed church members at their best and worst moments over the years. After graduating from college and moving to South Carolina the Lord began to awaken my heart to the need for single adult ministry in the local church.

After many years of leading singles ministries and seeing the growing single population in the United States, it became clear to me the Lord was calling me to focus on single adults. So often the local church gets it wrong when it comes to singles. But it does not have to be that way! According to the 2010 Census, the average age for men to marry is 29 and women 27. This has only increased in the past 20 years to record level highs. The local church wants to reach out to “young adults” yet they don’t understand it is the single adults who make up the majority of that population now. It is no longer young marrieds or young families. And when it comes to older single adults, the church does not know how to handle messy divorces or singles who may never marry. Out of this situation came Table for One Ministries. A ministry focused on singles and awakening local churches to the need for single adult ministry awareness.

My heart for this ministry to reach singles for Christ, equip singles with Word, empower singles to be bold for Christ, and awaken churches to the need to reach singles. I have chosen to be a “tent maker” in this journey, meaning I will earn a living for me and my family outside of this ministry. That way every dollar given goes directly to singles that need to hear about God’s love. Thank you for taking time to read a little bit about me and hear my heart through this site. Please take time and look around to find resources for single adults that you could share with another person. God willing this ministry will spark an awakening in churches to reach out to singles and provide single adults with the tools they need to walk with Christ. My faith has been a journey. There are times I’ve drawn very near to God and times I’ve walked away. Regardless, he has chased after me everywhere I’ve gone.
